Fridge's remote island trek makes hockey fan's dream come true

A beer advertisement with a difference is due to get its first showing on Boxing Day.

The commercial, made for Canadian beer company Molson chronicles the story of its efforts to cheer up the life of an expat from the country, living in a remote part of Indonesia.

The brewer does this by sending a fridge – full of its products, of course – on a trip of several thousand miles.

But not only does it send the fridge of beer to one of the tiny Gilli islands – it arranges for it to be accompanied by two of their lucky recipient's best mates, and is also setting up a satellite link back home from their island location, so that the group can watch all of the Canadian national ice hockey team's games at the forthcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, Japan.

“During the Olympics, you’ll see a lot of flag-waving from brands. We’re trying to do something different to stand out,” Aaron Starkman, creative director at Molson's advertising agency, Rethink, told the Toronto Globe and Mail.
