Samsung takes top two spots in review site's best machine of 2013 ratings

ExpertReviews.co.uk gave two of the Korean manufacturer's Ecobubble models the highest ratings of any new appliance released this year.

It found that both the Ecobubble WF1124XAC and WF80F5E5U4W could produce good results at wash temperatures as low as 15C, and in this economical mode, the average cost of a wash was 15p, as a result of savings on both water and electricity costs.

In addition, the reviewers were impressed by that fact that the first of these had a maximum 12kg load, which they said meant even the biggest household laundry items, such as a duvet could be washed at home, saving the expense of a trip to a specialist cleaner.

Based on EU standard figures which suggest a yearly total of 220 washes, the testers found that the average annual running costs of the two Samsung models were £49.68 and £54.27, earning both an "excellent" rating.

In terms of the quality of the wash produced at all temperatures, though, ExpertReviews was most impressed with a model from a manufacturer probably better known for its TVs and photographic equipment – Panasonic.

It praised the NA-168VG4 as "incredibly efficient and with great wash performance", and said it was the cheapest machine to run at higher wash temperatures.
