Samsung unveils home of the future

Technology giant Samsung has come up with its home of the future, complete with a smart vacuum cleaner and a flexible fridge.

The Home Innovation Space, currently on show at Harrods in London, has been created in conjunction with interior designer Kelly Hoppen.

It contains a number of appliances that not so long ago would have been considered far-fetched. Among the appliances on show is a vacuum cleaner that contains a built-in sensor capable of sensing how dirty a floor is and alerting the user if they've missed a bit.

A washing machine that can be operated via a user's mobile phone is also included in the show, according to a report by the Daily Mail, along with Samsung's T9000 fridge that is capable of turning fridge compartments into freezer compartments and vica-versa at the touch of a button.

Russell Owens, head of digital appliances at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, said: "Technology in the home is developing at an extraordinary rate and I think it's a particularly exciting time.

"Not so long ago the thought of being able to turn on a washing machine with your mobile phone on your way home from work was something that was hard to imagine."
