American singer-songwriter Lionel Richie has made a rather unusual guest appearance – in a beer fridge.
The artist, who is best known for hits including Hello, Dancing on the Ceiling and Say You, Say Me, features in the latest television advert for Tap King, during which he performs a version of his number one single Hello from the inside of a fridge.
According to a report by Digital Spy, the ad shows a man at home, in need of a drink. The thirsty householder then opens his fridge to find the 80s star sitting at a piano singing his classic hit while pouring the man a refreshing glass of beer.
Making reference to the lyrics in the song, the strapline that accompanies the advert is: "You know that feeling when you open your fridge and just can't quite find what you are looking for?"
The advert is part of a $5m campaign to promote Tap King's beer dispenser system.
Speaking to AdNews, Lion national marketing director Matt Tapper said: "It was a coup to secure well known performer Lionel Richie and the creative execution is a perfect introduction to Tap King.
"The irreverent tone and the surprising creative brings to life the exciting moment when a beer-lover realises he can now enjoy his favourite brew as a quality draught beer at home."
