A six-month-old cat has won a competition run by its owner's insurance company after making it through a laundry mishap unscathed.
Natasha the Siberian forest cat was caught out after jumping into a washing machine without anyone noticing. She went through an entire wash cycle but despite suffering from hypothermia and shock, made a full recovery and is said to be as active as ever when it comes to exploring around the house.
In recognition of her resilience, Natasha took California-based Veterinary Pet Insurance Co's Most Unusual Claim of the Month award for December.
Owner Daryl Humdy said he's had to take steps to make sure that Natasha can't get into any more trouble in the laundry room.
He said: "Since I brought Natasha home as a newborn kitten, she had always been very curious about the washing machine. She would always take a peek inside, but I never thought she would jump in.
"My roommate and I are much more cautious around the house now, because we would hate for her to have to go through something like that again."
