Stove manufacturer AGA has announced a link-up with mobile phone firm Everything Everywhere, ahead of the launch of its new oven.
AGA is set to launch its iTotal Control oven in the UK on June 1, an appliance that can be controlled remotely with the use of a mobile phone.
According to a statement released today, users will be able to turn on and control various features on their stove by sending it a text message or using a smartphone app or website.
Simple messages such as "baking oven on" or "all ovens off" can be sent via text message to the SIM card inside the AGA if the user does not have any connection to the internet on their phone. A reply will then be sent from the oven to confirm the action.
Richard Fozard, marketing director at AGA Rangemaster, said: "Everything Everywhere has the biggest 3G network in the UK, which means our customers can be in contact with their new AGA iTotal Control ovens from more places, more of the time.
"Integrating a new technology like M2M with a well-known traditional cooker like an AGA has been an incredibly exciting project for us."
