Residents in Blackpool have been urged to be on the lookout for anyone selling cheap electrical goods, after a number of items were stolen from a local charity.
Donna’s Dream House, which provides holidays for terminally-ill children, was targeted by criminals shortly before Christmas. Log cabins were broken into and set on fire on the evening of December 23, causing £80,000 worth of damage and forcing the charity to close over the festive period.
In addition, it was later discovered that electrical devices owned by the charity had gone missing, and Lancashire Constabulary believes they may have been offered for sale locally. The force has appealed to anyone who thinks they may know anything to get in touch.
“The local residents have been left sickened by what has happened,” said Det Sgt Paddy Dowling. “I am really keen to speak to anyone who may have been offered some of the electrical items cheap prior to Christmas, or even purchased some of them.”
The log cabins were paid for by scrap dealer Gary Eastwood, who donated to the charity whilst taking part in Channel 4 TV series The Secret Millionaire.
