Cooker firm creates social media oven

A UK domestic appliance company, which earlier this year created the world's first crowdsourced Twitter recipe book, has now come up with the idea of creating a Facebook oven.

According to a report by North West media industry website How Do, Merseyside-based oven manufacturer Belling is set to manufacture a one-off appliance with a unique design.

The company has developed an app that captures the Facebook profile picture of people who like the company's social media page. The images will then be printed onto a Belling cooker. The appliance is set to be unveiled at the BBC Good Food Show Winter, which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham between November 23 and 27.

Jane Rylands, brand manager for Belling, said: "We wanted to do something a little different and something involving our fans to celebrate our sponsorship of the BBC Good Food Shows this year.

"Whilst this is a one-off cooker, who knows, if it’s a popular request, then we might create Facebook-inspired cooker designs in the future."
