Police have appealed for help in trying to trace 14 chest freezers which were stolen off the back of a lorry earlier this month.
According to detectives, the driver of the lorry had pulled over on the A1246 near Selby, North Yorkshire, and gone to sleep in his cab when the thieves struck. They slashed two sections of the lorry’s side curtain and then removed 14 Eurocold chest freezers worth around £1,400.
The theft is believed to have occurred between 10pm on Tuesday May 10 and 5.30am on Wednesday, May 11.
All of the freezers carry the model number ITF102W. Police did not say whether they believe the thieves will attempt to sell the goods on as they are, or strip them down and sell the parts.
PC Dave Fulford, of Sherburn in Elmet Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "I would like anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch.
"I would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have purchased one of these items recently or has been offered one for sale.”
