Samsung Smart TVs hit by update glitch
A faulty server update left many Samsung Smart TV owners unable to use some features for two days this week, it has been revealed.
Samsung acknowledged that customers reported problems following its Smart Hub update, conducted on February 24. Those affected by the problem were unable to connect to Smart Hub for two days.
The electronics giant says that the glitch has now been fixed.
"During this process, it was reported that some of our customers in certain countries encountered difficulties in connecting their Smart TVs to the server," Samsung said in a statement.
"The difficulty was caused by errors in matching the country code with the relevant server, and the issue has now been resolved," it added.
Samsung has endured a difficult few weeks, after it was revealed that its Smart TV sets were sharing users' voice data and that the devices had been adding advertising to content played through third-party apps.
