Men avoid buying kitchen appliances for women at Christmas

A survey in Australia has revealed that men do not want to buy their partners kitchen appliances to avoid getting in trouble over the Christmas period. Instead, men opt for hair and beauty appliances as they feel as though they are more personal.

Despite this, the survey, which was carried out by Gender studies and legal expert Dr Rebecca Hunter and Origin Energy, revealed that women actually like receiving kitchen appliances as Christmas presents just as much as they like hair and beauty gifts. Women avoid buying men games and games consoles as they feel it distracts them from family time.

Dr Hunter said: “Men may feel that a blender or Thermomix is associated with chores and therefore not special or romantic enough, whereas hair and beauty appliances are a more personal gift.”

The survey found that the preferred gift for both men and women is a personal electronic.
