Ikea in Russia forced to stop sales

Ikea in Russia has been forced to stop sales of kitchen furniture and appliances as it cannot meet the customer demand.

The pause in sales is due to the collapse in the rouble and the threat of increasing prices on items in Russia. People in Russia have been rushing to buy valuable items such as kitchen furniture and household appliances while they are cheap before the sudden rise in prices.

The rouble has lost fifty per cent of its value against the dollar and has in turn made western goods such as appliances cheaper at the current moment, however many stores have already adapted to the new higher cost of items which is said to be implemented in the country soon.

Ikea has announced that it will start selling goods again on Saturday December 20 2014.
