Chain’s new-look stores to get white goods demo areas

A new style of dedicated kitchenware demonstration area is being rolled out in a handful of Currys and PC World stores, the retailer has announced this morning.

A pilot of an area where demonstrations are offered of a range of kitchen appliances at the chain’s store in Thurrock, Essex, which has run for four months, has been seen as a success, and as a result, the concept will now appear in about 40 other outlets by this Christmas.

The new sections feature more than 1,000 kitchen appliances and accessories.

At the trial store, a new, dedicated team of white goods sales advisors was established, while a demonstration area was also set up, where they could mount a range of working demonstrations of appliances from well-known brands including AEG, Zanussi, LG, Bosch and Samsung.

The stores are part of the Dixons Carphone group, which was created earlier this month out of the merger of Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse.
