Join in the fun and win an 0800 Appliance Centre TV!

The 22 inch Techwood LCD TV was donated by a local shop, the 0800 Appliance Centre based in the Front Street, which sells a huge range of domestic appliances including TVs just like the one donated. Store Manager Kevin Gray said: “Because we’re very much a part of the local community, we like to support local ventures. “The school is just round the corner in Ropery Lane, and when we got a letter from the school asking for raffle prizes, we were pleased to help.”

0800repair donate television to school children from St Cuthberts school with their raffle prize.

St Cuthbert’s were delighted to receive the TV, and have made it their star prize in the raffle, with proceeds going to school funds to benefit the children.

The draw will take place at the school Family Fun Day on Saturday which has been organised by the school Parents and Little Ones (PALs for short) which is St Cuthbert’s PTA organisation.

Their aim is to raise additional funds for the school to enhance pupil's enjoyment of their primary education as well as providing an opportunity for parents, carers and staff to work and socialise together.

They hold many fundraising events throughout the school year such as discos, and competitions as well as the now famous 'Annual Summer Fun Day'. In one academic year they raised £10,000 to buy new books for the whole school and £20,000 to build the outdoor multi-purpose area.

Angela Garrity, who will be the school’s new deputy head in September, said: “PALs work tirelessly to organise charity and community events across the year, and this Family Fun Day is their biggest yearly event.

“We are delighted that the 0800 Appliance Centre which is just round the corner on the Front St has donated such a great prize which will hopefully help us to boost raffle funds”

Anyone can join in the fun – the day will include stalls and activities, including a bouncy castle, hook a duck, a dance display, dads’ football tournament, wheel of fortune, Tug of war, fairground rides, and a special draw for children who will have the chance to be head teacher for the day.

“We are expecting about 500 people to come along, and we’d like to encourage everyone to take part and enter the raffle for the TV – it’s all in a good cause” said Angela.
